Angie is currently the Digital Resources Librarian at Simpson Library, where she can be found in the Digital Archiving Lab digitizing the library’s Special Collections and University Archives, or assisting the UMW Community with their own projects. She also spends much of her time working on the library’s digital collections and digital preservation endeavors. Angie is active within the Digital Library Federation’s DLFTeach working group, focusing on teaching with digital primary sources. She has a special interest in preserving and accessing memory in a born-digital world.
Angie’s project this year focuses on building a submission platform where the UMW Community can submit materials, both digital surrogates and born-digital, to the University Archives that they feel recognizes their time here. This project will be useful in the classroom to help students understand how to actively archive the events happening around us as well as document individual stories.
